The 'Some kind of wonderful: 80s fashion from the Darnell Collection' exhibition opens on Friday May 2 at the Rockhampton Art Gallery. The 1980s was possibly the boldest decade in modern fashion history, a magical era of over-the-top silhouettes, teased perms and saturated colors. "I mean everything here is supremely beautiful." "I hope that when people come and see this exhibition they will walk away saying I don't think there was one ugly outfit or something I would never wear and laugh at kind of a look," she said. She says the exhibition shows the best of the 80s. "This is very much my contribution to the collection, along with the pieces that I bought in the 80s to wear." "I absolutely love the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and modern because I think it really shows how fashion is continuing in a wonderful, cyclical manner," said Charlotte. She says she collected all the 80s outfits in the collection because Doris felt that anything past the 70s was too new for her. "For me it really sums up a decade of extravagance." "It's all about the quality and it's all about using exquisite fabrics whether they're synthetics or whether they're silks. "Which means that if there are big shoulder pads, it's really well proportioned. We print the highest quality 80s fashion posters. "I think what you'll see in this exhibition and certainly with the 80s pieces in my collection is the top, top level of fashion in that decade. Shop 80s fashion posters and art prints created by independent artists from around the globe. "I always get very defensive when people speak rudely about the 80s and say oh that was so ugly when they had their hair up doing this and big shoulder pads and things like that," she said. ![]() The exhibition highlights some of the most beautiful fashion items from the 80s that have become part of the collection, first started by her godmother Doris Darnell.Ĭharlotte inherited the collection in 2004 and has continued to let it grow to about 5,500 pieces. "Everything about them just oozed wealth," she said. The Darnell Collection curator Charlotte Smith believes this is what makes the 'Some kind of wonderful' exhibition which opens this weekend at the Rockhampton Art Gallery. ![]() ![]() DISCOVERY PARK SEATTLE LICENSETherefore, it does not license or charge permission fees for use of such material and cannot grant or deny permission to publish or otherwise distribute the material. DISCOVERY PARK SEATTLE FULLThe sensitive lay-out of structures, open space and drives around the post takes full advantage of the site's spectacular views. The historic core of the post includes twenty-five pre-1910 buildings situated around an oval parade ground. The frame buildings at Fort Lawton are based on standard quartermaster general plans and suggest influences of the shingle style, Georgian revival, and Jeffersonian classicism. Architecturally, Fort Lawton reflects military interpretations of turn-of-the-century American architectural styles. During World War II, the post became the second largest point of embarkation for troops on the West Coast. In its early years, Fort Lawton remained modest in size and influence, occupied by a small garrison of infantry soldiers. Spurred on by their chamber of commerce, Seattle citizens donated some seven hundred acres of prime land for the post, in the hope of improving their local economy. Not just in terms of finding solutions to panels (though I for one certainly needed help from time to time) but to see secret endings, screenshots of interesting details, and share theories about what it all might mean. The Witness was a great game to play with someone sitting next to you-provided you work well together-and it was especially fun to see what other players had discovered online. The discovery of the shadows caused by some branches on a wall, or sunlight through a windowframe, or interesting etchings on a rock, or a scene in a clearing that comes into view from a certain angle-there are so many brilliant little details to look for and find that don’t involve solving puzzles at all. You can also say the hell with puzzles for a while! Simply stroll around and enjoy the scenery, which itself is littered with amazing detail that don’t involve puzzles at all. The puzzles themselves are simple enough, but the feeling of accomplishment The Witness’ evokes from exploring its world and slowly learning how those puzzles work is what truly sets it apart from other games. But the island’s brilliance goes beyond visuals, as it’s been crafted to guide you through the game and teach you everything you need to know without ever saying a word. Its vibrant colors and perfectly reflective water is a wonderful contrast to the darker settings of most modern games, especially when compared to similar first-person puzzlers like Portal or The Talos Principle. ![]() Tom Marks: The island itself is the most impressive part of The Witness for me. ![]() It’s breathtakingly brilliant, and shows how well designed The Witness is, not just in terms of its puzzles but in every boulder, path, tree, and hill. #THE WITNESS ENVIRONMENTAL PUZZLES HOW TO#Best of all, once you begin to see these environmental puzzles, you’ve already been taught how to solve them by the panels you’ve been tracing designs on all along. Some I passed dozens of times without ever seeing them until I happened to stand in just the right spot and peered at just the right angle, and then suddenly it was clear as day. They’re etched into mountainsides, formed by tree branches and shrubs, looped around staircases and paths, in the shadows, in the reflections of the water, and even in the clouds. Beyond the linked flat puzzle panels, there are patterns in The Witness. #THE WITNESS ENVIRONMENTAL PUZZLES SERIES#Chris Livingston: The most wonderful moment in The Witness came when I realized, after several hours of playing, that I wasn’t simply standing in front of a series of puzzles but actually standing in a series of puzzles crafted from the island itself. ![]() ![]() ![]() View schedules, routes, timetables, and find out how long does it take to get to Hotel ""Dash"" in real time. After the tires are changed, the speedometer needs to be recalibrated. Similarly, switching to smaller tires causes the speedometer to give a faster reading for the vehicle’s speed. Switching to larger tires causes the speedometer to give off a slower speed reading than the vehicle’s actual speed. ![]() If the owner decides to change the stock parts, such as the vehicle’s tires, it can throw off the calibration of the speedometer, giving the driver the wrong reading for the vehicle’s speed. A vehicle’s speedometer is in charge of giving an accurate estimation of the speed it is driving. ![]() ![]() In 2016, a flaw in the Linux kernel dubbed Dirt圜OW ( CVE-2016-5195) emerged that could allow root access – another version of the same privilege escalation weakness.įollow on Twitter for the latest computer security news.įollow on Instagram for exclusive pics, gifs, vids and LOLs! It’s not the first time COW has been in the news. #Outset macos updateWe’ll update this issue tracker entry once we have more details.Īpple has yet to comment on the flaw but if you’re a macOS user, there’s no need to panic. Apple is intending to resolve this issue in a future release, and we’re working together to assess the options for a patch. We’ve been in contact with Apple regarding this issue, and at this point no fix is available. Project Zero told Apple about the vulnerability on 30 November 2018 which means that Project Zero’s 90-day deadline for the company to address the issue expired on 28 February.ĭoubtless, Apple has something in the works but either has other things to fix first or doesn’t want to be rushed despite the Google team rating its severity as “high”. #Outset macos macThe obvious objection is that a Mac that has malware on it capable of launching this kind of attack is already in deep trouble even without this somewhat involved technique being in the public domain.īut perhaps that’s to miss the most intriguing aspect of this story – the way Apple has reacted (or not) to Google telling it about the problem. The specific mechanism used in the researchers’ proof-of-exploit involves unmounting and remounting the file system, which apparently generates no warning via the memory management layer. If that related to a privileged process, that might be a route to a privilege escalation capable of interfering with sensitive data. This means that if an attacker can mutate an on-disk file without informing the virtual management subsystem, this is a security bug. Using Bugg圜ow, malware already running on a Mac might be able to tamper with the copy of the data written to the disk in a way that is invisible to the file system: It is important that the copied memory is protected against later modifications by the source process otherwise, the source process might be able to exploit double-reads in the destination process. The principle behind COW is that it provides a way for different processes to efficiently and securely share the same data object in memory until they need to modify it in some way – at that point, they must make their own copy of the data rather than changing the data in memory. ![]() ![]() The vulnerability is in the way macOS implements a memory optimisation and protection routine used by all OS file systems called copy-on-write (COW). Google’s Project Zero researchers have revealed a “high severity” macOS security flaw nicknamed ‘Bugg圜ow’ that Apple appears to be in no rush to patch. ![]() ![]() ![]() Such as: sweating, sneezing or looking pale.
